Six Building Centres has been set up by Meghalaya Urban Development Agency in six District Headquarters under GOI grant received through HUDCO. Shillong Building Centre (SBC) has received Rs. 4.00 lakhs and fully utilised the grant and subsequently received Rs. 3.50 lakhs Kfw grant out of the sanctioned amount of Rs. 8.40 lakhs for construction of a Production Centre at proposed New Shillong area. Tura Building Centre (TBC) has received and utilised Rs. 2.00 lakhs GOI Grant from HUDCO. It also undertook Model Slum at Matchakolgre and out of the sanctioned amount of Rs. 35.00 lakhs, the Building Centre had received and utilised Rs. 17.50 lakhs and next installment is awaited. Jowai Building Centre (JBC) has received Rs. 3.50 lakhs GOI Grant and other Building Centres at Nongstoin (NBC), Williamnagar (WBC) and Baghmara (BBC) has received GOI grant of Rs. 2.00 lakhs each and release of next installment is awaited. Baghmara Building Centre has also undertake construction of three Community & Memorial Halls under ID Schemes of Urban Affairs Department and received an amount of Rs. 17.18 lakhs for the purpose. Jowai Building Centre has also undertaken work from District Urban Affairs Unit for an estimated amount of Rs. 30,000/- for repairing of footpath in the Urban Affairs Departmental Complex at Jowai and the work has been completed.
